HOME|LAND 11/13/2024

Today marks the launch of Tikkun Now’s new website! My eternal thanks to the team at Wiser Websites who are as patient as they are savvy. Our updated look is coupled with new content, like Events and Impact pages, which help people track our success in leveraging the arts to fight antisemitism. In the past year, Tikkun Now has partnered with 26 Holocaust Museums, 42 International Museums, participated in 6 Global Arts exhibits and sponsored 4 art-therapy trauma programs in displaced communities. And there is so much work on the horizon!

Today also kicks off HOME|LAND ! Organized and curated by Michelle Azout, in partnership with the Consulate General of Israel in Miami and Tikkun Now, it is a contemporary art exhibition showcasing and supporting the work of Israeli artist. The show is a love letter to Israel that boasts an impressive roster of artists. If you cannot attend HOME | LAND in person, no worries, the art is available FOR SALE ONLINE until the end of December. All sales proceeds go directly to the artists. Let’s help HOME|LAND support an increasingly ostracized artistic community, while sending a strong message about Israel as the ancestral homeland of the Jewish people.

Make no mistake: the war being fought in Israel right now is not simply a military one, it’s also a cultural one. Art is a powerful and ubiquitous medium. It has the power to turn the narrative dial where pragmatism cannot. It is a gross understatement to say that today’s artistic climate is both unsympathetic to, and unsupportive of, Jews. It is our responsibility to harness the arts to tell our story. When it is impossible to have a logical conversation with someone who is operating from emotions, not facts, art, and feelings it evokes, cuts through this barrier and opens up doors for dialogue.

We need to crack this door open. We need the truth heard. We need everyone to see the beauty of Israel, not just Jews. We are .2% of the world's population and we will not succeed in the battle against antisemitism if we operate alone in an echo chamber. So spread the word…telling people about HOME|LAND is a good place to start.

Am Yisrael Chai,

Kelly
